Next up on Backbone Radio 7/29

Tune in Sunday night to KNUS 710am from 5 to 8 pm for Backbone Radio.
Your genial host Matt Dunn will be joined by Backbone contributor
Karen Kataline for the latest commentary on all things cultural and
political.

With the spectacular Krista Kafer taking a rare night off, we will be
pleased to be joined by three guests through the evening:

Mark Hillman, former Majority Leader of the Colorado State Senate,
will offer his insight into Obama’s “dismissive” attitude toward
American business. What did Obama mean when he once said he felt like
a “spy behind enemy lines” during his brief stint in the private
sector? And today, when Obama tells us “You didn’t build that!” what
exactly does he mean? Come again?

Scott Shipley, Colorado resident and three-time U.S. Olympian, will
join us on the phone from London for the latest updates on the 2012
Olympics. We’ll gauge the vibes across the pond and learn a little bit
about what’s going through the minds of our athletes as they prepare
to give it their all.

Also, Dr. Jon Kedrowski, author of the new book “Sleeping on the
Summits,” will discuss his adventures pitching his tent on top of each
of Colorado’s 55 Fourteeners. Plus, we’ll review Dr. Kedrowski’s
recent successful ascent of Mount Everest. Lofty topics indeed!

Matt & Karen will also take time to discuss the “bust” of Winston
Churchill, the questionable wisdom of Nanny Bloomberg of New York
City, and the antics of the “Goat Man” recently spotted in Utah. What
gives?

And also – who knew? – Al Gore seems to have finally gotten something
right. Though he said these words on the campaign trail in 1992, they
manage to apply today in 2012 with astonishing accuracy:

“Unemployment around the country has gone up, the number of jobs has
gone down. The trade deficit has gone up, personal income has gone
down. Poverty has gone up, the number of jobs has gone down.
Bankruptcies have gone up – jobs, down. Fear, up – hope, down.
Everything that oughta be down is up, everything that should be up is
down. They’ve got it upside down, and we’re gonna turn it right side
up!”

All that from Al Gore, as ever, a man ahead of his time. Take heart,
folks, help is on the way.

Don’t miss it! Tune in to 710am KNUS or 1460am KZNT in Colorado
Springs or online at www.710knus.com from 5-8 pm. Your smart choice
for Sunday night radio.
